Position Summary:
The Physical Activity and Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing physical activity programs that promote health and wellness within the sports and athletics department. This role focuses on designing and delivering programs that enhance physical education and encourage an active lifestyle among individuals of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive physical activity programs aimed at promoting health and wellness within the sports and athletics department.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to assess needs and design appropriate physical education curricula and initiatives.
3. Plan and facilitate engaging physical activity sessions, workshops, and events to encourage participation and promote a healthy lifestyle.
4. Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of physical activity programs and make necessary adjustments to enhance outcomes.
5. Provide guidance and support to coaches, teachers, and staff in implementing physical activity initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and best practices.
6. Stay updated with the latest research, trends, and advancements in physical education, health promotion, and sports science to incorporate evidence-based practices into program development.
7. Collaborate with external organizations, community partners, and healthcare professionals to promote physical activity and health initiatives.
8. Monitor and manage program budgets, ensuring proper allocation and efficient utilization of resources.
9. Maintain accurate documentation, including program reports, participant records, and evaluation data.
10. Adhere to all relevant legal, ethical, and safety guidelines related to physical activity and health promotion.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience (X years) in developing and implementing physical activity programs in sports and athletics settings.
3. In-depth knowledge of physical education principles, health promotion strategies, and sports science.
4. Strong understanding of human anatomy, exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including coaches, teachers, students, and community partners.
6. Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all ages to engage in physical activities and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
7. Proficiency in using technology and software applications relevant to program development and management.
8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
9. Demonstrated ability to analyze data, evaluate program outcomes, and make data-driven decisions.
10. Valid CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
